While the The One X and S are evolutions from the design used in the HTC Nexus One, the HTC One V takes its design cues from the original Android phones, most notably the HTC Hero and Legend. The most notable feature, is the Android chin.
The HTC One V replaces the Wildfire in the HTC line-up. Unlike the HTC Wildfire S which fell too far behind the curve, the HTC One V has most of the features we would expect.
Quick specifications:
- Android 4.0
- 3.7-inch, 480 x 800 LCD display, scratch resistant glass
- 4 GB storage, expandable via MicroSD card
- 512 MB of RAM
- Single core 1 GHz processor, Adreno 205 graphical processing unit
- 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash
- No front camera
- 720p video
- HSDPA 14.4 Mbps
- 1500 mAh battery
- 9.2 mm thin, 115 g in weight
The absence of a front camera will turn away some buyers. It also means that while this is an Android 4.0 device, it won't support face unlock. What will really decide how successful this phone is is price. With phones like the Sony Xperia U and Huawei U8860 Honor with suggested retail prices of Php13,990, both of which some form of advantage (as well as drawbacks) against the One V, it would seem like 14K would be the price HTC could reasonably charge for the One V.
In five days, we should find out how much it will be selling for.
