I came home today to find out my Dropbox account gained another 5 GB on online storage. Dropbox is a cloud storage solution which has the ability to automatically synchronize changes in files on a computer to the cloud, and from there to sync the files in other computers belonging to the same account owner or shared with other Dropbox account owners. Basically, once you install Dropbox on your computer, and files in the Dropbox folder will be uploaded to the cloud. Modify a file and the modified file will be uploaded to the cloud. Install Dropbox in two computers and the contents of the Dropbox folder on each computer will be synchronized.
Dropbox is compatible with Windows, Mac OS and Linux. There are also mobile clients which allow you to access your Dropbox for Androd, BlackBerry and iOS. Windows Phone has a third party developed Dropbox app. This is the major advantage of Dropbox over other cloud storage solutions. It is truly a cross platform application.
When you sign up for Dropbox you get 2 GB. For every referral you make Dropbox used to give you another 250 MB. Now you get 500 MB per referral, and you can earn up to 16 GB on referrals for a total of 18 GB of storage. You can also buy more online storage.
For old account owners, they their old referrals are now also credited as 500 MB per referral.
If you still don't have a Dropbox account, you may want to sign-up through this link. Doing so will give you another 500 MB of storage for a total of 2.5 GB, and in the process you give me another 500 MB too.
