Sony introduced the Xperia sola with floating touch

Sony has introduced the Xperia sola which features "floating touch" technology. Floating touch lets users navigate the web by hovering their finger above the screen so it acts like a moving cursor, without actually having to touch the screen.  Once the desired link is found it can be highlighted and a simple tap will load the page.  Sony says "Floating touch will evolve with new user functionality and applications through software updates and engagement with developers.”

To get a better idea of how it works, watch the  Sony Xperia sola video below.

So, what do you think. A useful feature or a gimmick?

Now, this would really be nice on a Windows 8 laptop... maybe a Sony Vaio Touch.
