According to the data released by Nielsen, the most popular use of smartphone in the US is playing games. 64% of smartphone owners use their smartphone to play games, as against more "business" related uses, like banking or finance(32%), productivity (21%) and education and learning applications (11%).
Weather, social networking and maps or navigation related apps were the the other most often used by smartphone owners.
iPhone owners spent the most time using their mobile phones for games, at an average of 14.7 hours per month followed by Android owners at 9.3 hours per month.
BlackBerry and Windows Phone 7 owners, seem to be more serious types only spending 1/3rd of the time playing games as compared to iPhone owners.
