Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) will be a tablet only OS

We were expecting to see a fork in the road in Google Android development with Android 2.x continuing to be used in single core devices and Android 3.x being used in dual core devices. It appears, screen size and resolution, and not processing speed, is what will result in the fork in development.

Motorola's Xoom will run Android 3.0
Techradar.com reports that for the near future Android 3.0 will be a tablet only operating system. This will have a UI optimized to work with larger 10-inch screens with a 1280 x 720 resolution, like Motorola's Xoom. For mobile phones, Android 2.3, and later 2.x releases will continue to be the Android OS used.
